Aksu Ferroalloy Plant passes the 35 Mt milestone ferroalloy output
The Aksu Ferroalloy Plant (“the Plant”) of JSC TNC Kazchrome (“Kazchrome”), owned by Eurasian Resources Group (“ERG” or “the Group”), a leading diversified natural resources group, has passed the 35 Mt milestone in ferroalloy smelting. Kazchrome, which produces chrome, silicon and manganese alloys and currently accounts for over 60% of total ferroalloy output in Kazakhstan, will celebrate the 50th anniversary of its establishment this year.
The team working at furnace 21 in smelting workshop No. 2 marked this important milestone in ferroalloy production at the Plant. The first batch of metal (ferrosilicon) from the Aksu Ferroalloy Plant was produced in the same furnace. The first 1Mt milestone took the Aksu Ferroalloy Plant more than six years to reach but today the enterprise produces more than 1 Mt of alloys every year. Its products are supplied mainly to overseas consumers, with Japan, Korea, China, Europe, the US and Russia as the key sales destinations.
Sergey Prokopyev, Director of the Aksu Ferroalloy Plant, emphasised: "ERG's investment policy allows the Aksu Ferroalloy Plant to constantly upgrade its production facilities making sure that it remains a leader in the global market, while extensive ore reserves held by the Donskoy Ore Mining and Processing Plant will enable uninterrupted operation for many years to come. Most importantly, our people are highly qualified professionals capable of tackling any operational task which they come across."
