ERG presented a new exhibition hall at its bauxite mine in Kazakhstan: from the first production to modern digital technologies based on VR
At the Krasnooktyabrsky Bauxite Mine, a branch of Aluminum of Kazakhstan JSC, an ERG subsidiary, the company opened a new exhibition hall. This space brings together archival materials, production artifacts, and modern digital solutions to illustrate how the enterprise, its technologies, and its people have changed over its 76-year history.
The central element of the exhibition is a backlit glass floor, beneath which is displayed real bauxite mined in the KBRU quarries. It allows visitors to literally see the rock from which the enterprise's production journey began. The hall features archival photographs and materials chronicling the mine's formation and development, including rock samples, geological and archaeological finds, and production artifacts from various periods.
The exhibition features a sample of miner's equipment from the 1960s and modern workwear from 2026—a clear comparison of how technology, production, and working conditions at the mine have changed over the decades. The "Production Leaders" stand presents the history of the company's management over 76 years. It contains the names of all the executives who led the KBRU over the years and contributed to its development. This is a unique chronicle of the company's management history and another opportunity to trace the continuity of generations. VR headsets allow visitors to see the production process from the inside and feel like they are part of it.
Another digital solution is Erzhain's audio guide, which accompanies guests through the hall and recounts key events. Visitors choose which sections and exhibits to explore in more detail, turning their exploration of the exhibition into a personalized experience. Veteran Bakytzhan Irubaev and young specialist Saveliy Nikolaev, winner of the international ERG Skills competition, cut the red ribbon together at the opening of the KBRU's new exhibition hall. Two generations of the company's employees—those who created its history and those who continue it today—came together in one ceremony.
"When you walk in here, you feel as if you're actually at the mine. Here, the history of the KBRU is presented not only through exhibits and archival materials—modern technologies allow you to see the production process from the inside and experience the mine's atmosphere. This isn't just an exhibition, but an opportunity to understand what KBRU is like today, where it came from, and what its future holds," said Vladimir Krasnoyarsky, CEO of Aluminum of Kazakhstan JSC, at the opening.
