Eurasian Resources Group donates USD2.4m to help fight COVID-19 in Kazakhstan
Eurasian Resources Group (“ERG” or “the Group”) has announced that it will donate almost KZT 1bn (c. USD2.4m) to its ‘hometowns’ to help fund measures in the fight against COVID-19. The funds will be divided between the Kostanay, Pavlodar and Aktobe regions in Kazakhstan where the Group has operations.
The donations will be used to help address the COVID-19 pandemic, including the purchase of medicines and medical equipment.
These donations are in addition to money already provided by the Group to the Kostanay and Aktobe regions along with a donation to a specialist hospital in the Pavlodar Region.
ERG has already allocated about KZT 1.9 bn (c. USD4.5m) earlies this year to carry out sanitary and epidemiological measures at the Group’s enterprises in Kazakhstan. Crucially these funds have also been used to supply testing kits to employees.
In addition, in April, ERG donated KZT 4.5 bn (c. USD10m) to the national Biz Birgemiz Fund, set up by Kazakhstan’s First President Nursultan Nazarbayev.
